Tinsukia Medical College & Hospital (TMCH) is a premier government medical institution established in 2024 by the Government of Assam to bolster the healthcare infrastructure in the Upper Assam region. Located in Makum, Tinsukia district, it is the 13th medical college in the state. The foundation stone was laid on January 7, 2019, and the facility was formally inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 9, 2024. The project, funded by the Assam Infrastructure Financing Authority with an estimated cost of ₹350 Crores, spans across a sprawling 58-acre campus designed with modern architectural standards. TMCH offers the undergraduate Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program with an annual intake capacity of 100 students, recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and affiliated with Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, Guwahati. The institution is committed to providing high-quality medical education combined with hands-on clinical training. The attached hospital serves as a tertiary care center for the local population, featuring advanced diagnostic labs, multi-specialty departments, and a significant patient load that provides students with extensive clinical exposure.
