About R.V. COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING

R.V. College of Engineering (RVCE), officially known as Rashtreeya Vidyalaya College of Engineering, is one of India's most prestigious and oldest self-financing private engineering institutions. Established in 1963 under the Rashtreeya Sikshana Samithi Trust (RSST) — a not-for-profit trust that runs over 25 educational institutions — RVCE stands as the flagship institute of the trust. The college is situated on the scenic Mysuru Road (Pattanagere), Bengaluru, Karnataka, spread over a campus of 16.85 acres on the banks of the Vrishabhavati River. RVCE is affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, and was granted autonomous status in 2008, enabling the college to design and update its own curriculum annually to keep pace with industry requirements. The institution is recognized by UGC, approved by AICTE, and holds the prestigious NAAC 'A+' Grade accreditation (2025). Several departments are also accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The college was founded with only three disciplines — Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering — and has since grown into a comprehensive institution offering over 35 courses across 15 departments. Today, RVCE offers undergraduate programs (BE/B.Tech) in 13+ specializations including Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Information Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Biotechnology, Cyber Security, Industrial Engineering and Management, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, and Chemical Engineering. At the postgraduate level, it offers M.Tech in 13 specializations and a two-year MCA program. The institute also has active doctoral (Ph.D) programs across engineering and science disciplines. RVCE has consistently delivered outstanding academic outcomes and industry-ready graduates. In NIRF Rankings 2025, RVCE is placed in the 101–150 band in the Engineering category, and is ranked #1 among private engineering colleges in India by IIRF 2025. The institution has earned a reputation as Karnataka's top private engineering college, with KCET and COMEDK cutoffs among the most competitive in the state. The Department of Placement and Training, established in 1997, coordinates with 200+ leading organizations annually. The 2025 placement season saw 1,200+ offers from 262+ companies, with a highest domestic package of INR 67 LPA, an international package of INR 1.15 Crore PA, and an average package of INR 15.24 LPA for BE graduates. RVCE's research culture is equally strong, with funded projects from DRDO, ISRO, DST, and collaborations with industry giants such as Bosch, Texas Instruments, and Qualcomm. Beyond academics, RVCE nurtures holistic development through an active Innovation and Entrepreneurship Cell (IEC), NSS and NCC units, a rich variety of technical and cultural student clubs, sports facilities, and a well-equipped central library with over 1,00,000 volumes. The campus is fully Wi-Fi enabled and offers separate hostel facilities for male and female students. RVCE's motto — 'Prajvalitō Jñānamaya Pradīpaḥ' (Go, change the world) — reflects its commitment to producing ethically grounded, technically competent, and globally competitive engineers and technologists.

Admission Process

Admissions to RVCE's BE/B.Tech program are conducted via three primary channels: (1) KCET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test) – Government/State Quota for Karnataka domicile students, constituting approximately 45% of seats. (2) COMEDK UGET – Private quota open to students across India, constituting approximately 30% of seats. (3) Management Quota – Approximately 25% of seats filled by the institution. For PG programs (M.Tech), admission is based on GATE or Karnataka PGCET scores followed by KEA counselling. MCA admissions are through Karnataka PGCET or KMAT Karnataka. Candidates must meet minimum eligibility: 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with at least 45–50% aggregate for BE. For M.Tech, a BE/B.Tech with minimum 50% (45% for SC/ST) is required. Applications are submitted through respective counselling authority portals. Shortlisted candidates must complete document verification and fee payment at the college to confirm their admission.
