About Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology (RIT), Kottayam

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology (RIT), Kottayam, named after the late Prime Minister Sri Rajiv Gandhi, is one of the premier government engineering colleges in Kerala. Established in 1991, the institute has carved a niche for itself in the technical landscape of the state. Managed and owned by the Government of Kerala, RIT was envisioned as a center for excellence in postgraduate studies and research. The college is spread across a picturesque 87-acre campus in Pampady, approximately 14 kilometers from Kottayam town. This expansive campus provides a tranquil environment that is highly conducive to rigorous academic pursuit and creative exploration. The institute is affiliated with APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) and offers a diverse range of undergraduate (B.Tech, B.Arch) and postgraduate (M.Tech, MCA) programs. RIT is particularly noted for its commitment to providing high-quality, professional education to students from all sections of society at a highly subsidized cost. The curriculum is designed to meet international standards, supported by a faculty team that includes seasoned researchers and academicians. The college has also successfully introduced modern specializations like Robotics and Artificial Intelligence to keep pace with global industry trends. Student life at RIT is as dynamic as its academic environment. The annual techno-cultural fest, 'RITU', is one of the most anticipated events in the region, attracting thousands of participants. The college also hosts specialized technical symposia like 'NCRIT' and is a key partner in the National Technological Congress (NATCON). With an active Career Guidance and Placement Cell (CGPC), the institute ensures that a large percentage of its graduates are placed in top-tier multinational corporations and government sectors each year. RIT’s legacy is carried forward by an illustrious alumni network that continues to contribute significantly to the fields of engineering, architecture, and technology worldwide.
