Founded on 1st December 1873 as the Sealdah Medical School by the colonial administration, the institution has traversed an extraordinary journey of over 150 years, bearing witness to the transformation of modern medicine in the Indian subcontinent. Originally established as a branch of the Calcutta Medical School near Sealdah Station, it was renamed Campbell Medical School in 1884 and subsequently elevated to Campbell Medical College in 1948.
