National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra (NIT Kurukshetra or NITKKR), located in Kurukshetra, Haryana, is one of India's premier public technical universities. Established in 1963 as the Regional Engineering College, Kurukshetra — a joint initiative of the Government of India and the Government of Punjab — the institute was renamed to NIT Kurukshetra in 2002 when all Regional Engineering Colleges were unified. In December 2008, it was conferred the status of an Institute of National Importance (INI) under the NIT Act, 2007 of Parliament. M.Tech: Admission based on valid GATE score through CCMT Counselling. Minimum eligibility: 60% aggregate in B.Tech/B.E. (55% for SC/ST/PwD). Sponsored candidates (working professionals) may also apply with a minimum of 2 years of work experience. MBA: Admission based on CAT/CMAT/MAT/XAT scores (minimum 70+ percentile in CAT).
