The university has a rich legacy rooted in its predecessor, the Madan Mohan Malaviya Engineering College (MMMEC), which was established in the year 1962 as a constituent college of Gorakhpur University. After over five decades of distinguished service to technical education in eastern Uttar Pradesh, the college was reconstituted into a non-affiliating, teaching and research university by the Government of Uttar Pradesh through the MMMUT Act, 2013, and formally established on 1 December 2013 under Act No. 22/2013. Admission Process

Admissions to MMMUT are entirely entrance-based. B.Tech (First Year) admissions are done through JEE Main scores; candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry/CS/IT with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST). B.Tech Lateral Entry, BBA, B.Pharm, MBA, MCA, M.Sc. are admitted through CUET UG/PG scores. M.Tech admissions are done through GATE scores. PhD admissions are conducted through the university's own Malaviya Entrance Test (MET), held twice a year (July and January sessions). Online counselling is conducted through the official MMMUT admissions portal (mmmutadm.samarth.edu.in). Counselling registration fee is ₹2,500. Seat acceptance fee is ₹40,000. 90% of B.Tech seats are reserved for Uttar Pradesh domicile candidates and 10% are supernumerary seats for other-state candidates.
