It is the 8th medical college of the state, affiliated with the Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences (SSUHS) and approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC). The college is strategically located in North Lakhimpur, providing a crucial link for patients from Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, and even neighboring Arunachal Pradesh.
