Admission Process

Admissions to IIT Kanpur are highly competitive and conducted through national-level entrance examinations. For BTech and BS programmes, candidates must qualify JEE Main followed by JEE Advanced, and then participate in JoSAA Counselling for seat allotment. For MTech and MS by Research, a valid GATE score is required followed by COAP counselling. MSc admissions are based on IIT JAM scores and JAM counselling. MDes admissions require a valid CEED score. MBA admissions are conducted via CAT scores (minimum 80 percentile cutoff), followed by a written ability test (WAT) and personal interview (PI). PhD admissions are based on GATE/NET/JEST/CSIR-NET scores followed by a departmental interview.
