About Kerala Institute of Tourism and Travel Studies (KITTS)

The Kerala Institute of Tourism and Travel Studies (KITTS) is a premier autonomous institution established in 1988 by the Department of Tourism, Government of Kerala. Situated in the heart of Thiruvananthapuram, the institute is housed in the historic 'Residency' building, a two-century-old heritage structure set within five acres of lush greenery. KITTS was founded with the strategic vision of creating a high-quality human resource pool to support the burgeoning tourism industry in Kerala and across the globe. As an ISO 9001:2015 certified organization, it has earned a reputation as a center of excellence in tourism education, research, and consultancy. The institute is an affiliate member of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and an authorized training center for the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which significantly enhances the global employability of its graduates. KITTS offers a comprehensive array of academic programs ranging from undergraduate degrees like BBA and B.Com in Tourism and Travel Management to professional postgraduate programs like the MBA in Travel and Tourism. The curriculum is meticulously designed to blend academic theory with industry requirements, incorporating practical training in Global Distribution Systems (GDS) like Amadeus and Galileo. The institute's strong ties with the state government and major hospitality players ensure that students receive unparalleled exposure to the real-world dynamics of destination management, sustainable tourism, and aviation. Beyond core academics, KITTS is actively involved in capacity-building programs for various stakeholders in the tourism sector, including tourism police, guide training, and skill development for local communities. With a dedicated placement cell that consistently achieves high recruitment rates, KITTS continues to be the cornerstone of tourism development in 'God’s Own Country,' fostering the next generation of leaders in the global travel and hospitality marketplace.
