About KALINGA INSTITUTE OF INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY (KIIT), Odisha

Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), based in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, is a premier world-class multi-disciplinary university. Founded in 1992 by Dr. Achyuta Samanta as an Industrial Training Institute with just 12 students and 2 faculty members, it has grown into a sprawling academic township of 25 square kilometers. It was granted the status of a Deemed to be University in 2004, making it one of the youngest institutions to achieve such a feat. Today, it hosts over 30,000 students across 23 constituent schools offering more than 200 programs in Engineering, Management, Medicine, Law, Biotechnology, and more. The university is widely recognized for its commitment to social responsibility, being the parent organization of KISS (Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences), the world's largest tribal residential institute. KIIT is accredited with an 'A++' grade by NAAC and is ranked 15th among Indian Universities by NIRF. Its School of Technology is one of the few in India to be accredited by ABET (USA). The campus is often described as a 'greenest' campus, featuring specialized research centers, 16 sports complexes with swimming pools, and massive food courts. Beyond academics, KIIT fosters a culture of innovation through its KIIT-TBI (Technology Business Incubator), which has nurtured hundreds of startups. The institution serves as a melting pot of cultures, attracting students from all Indian states and over 50 countries, truly embodying its motto: 'Knowledge is that which liberates'.
