About Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies

Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS), popularly known as JB or Bajaj, is one of India's most prestigious and oldest business schools, established in 1965 by the University of Mumbai. Named after the legendary industrialist and freedom fighter Jamnalal Bajaj, and funded by the Jamnalal Bajaj Seva Trust, JBIMS operates as the Department of Management Studies of the University of Mumbai. The iconic red-brick building located at 164, Backbay Reclamation, H.T. Parekh Marg, Churchgate, Mumbai, stands as a beacon of management excellence in India's financial capital. With a legacy spanning over five decades, JBIMS holds the distinction of being the first institute in India to offer a full-time 2-year Master in Management Studies (MMS) program. The institute is an autonomous, AICTE-approved institution that has received the prestigious NAAC 'A++' accreditation – a testament to its unwavering commitment to academic quality and institutional excellence. JBIMS is strategically situated at the epicentre of Mumbai's business and financial district, adjacent to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), major international banks, and the headquarters of Fortune 500 companies. This unparalleled location gives students daily access to industry leaders, enabling rich networking experiences, industry-immersive guest lectures, live case studies, and real-world corporate exposure that no textbook can replicate. Commonly nicknamed the 'CEO Factory,' JBIMS boasts an extraordinary alumni network that includes Uday Kotak (Founder, MD & CEO, Kotak Mahindra Bank), Ajay Piramal (Chairman, Piramal Group), Chanda Kochhar (Former MD & CEO, ICICI Bank), and Mani Ratnam (Renowned Filmmaker), among many other top corporate leaders. Admission Process

Admission to JBIMS Mumbai is conducted through a rigorous, entrance-exam-based process. For the flagship MMS program, Maharashtra domicile candidates must appear for the MAH MBA CET exam conducted by the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra. Shortlisted candidates participate in the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) conducted by DTE Maharashtra – there is no separate GD/PI for MMS. All India quota candidates may use CAT or CMAT scores. The MMS cutoff for the general category is 99.93–99.99 percentile in MAH MBA CET, and 96+ percentile in CAT. For M.Sc. Finance and MHRD programs, candidates are shortlisted on the basis of MAH CET or CAT scores, followed by a multi-stage In-Person Assessment (IPA) consisting of a Written Aptitude Test (WAT), Group Activity (GA), and Personal Interview (PI). For Part-Time MMS, candidates apply directly to JBIMS by paying a non-refundable application fee of INR 1,200. The application process is fully online at www.jbims.edu/admissions. Shortlisted candidates are called for selection rounds as per program requirements. A minimum of 50% marks in graduation (45% for reserved category candidates from Maharashtra) is required for MMS and MHRD eligibility.
