Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College (JGEC), officially known as Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College (Autonomous), is one of India's premier public engineering institutions located in Danguajhar, Jalpaiguri, West Bengal. Established on 7 August 1961 by the Government of West Bengal, JGEC holds the proud distinction of being the second-oldest engineering college in the state, originally known as Jalpaiguri Engineering College until 1963. Over more than six decades, the institution has grown into a respected centre for engineering education, research, and innovation. The college is an autonomous institution affiliated with Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), West Bengal. All programmes offered at JGEC are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). Admission Process

Admission to B.Tech at JGEC is conducted through the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) and JEE Main. Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects (along with Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Computer Science) with a minimum of 45% aggregate (40% for SC/ST/OBC). Seat allocation is done through WBJEEB Counselling. For B.Tech Lateral Entry (3-year programme), admission is based on JELET (Joint Entrance for Lateral Entry) scores conducted by WBJEEB. Candidates must hold a Diploma in Engineering or B.Sc. (Non-Medical/Computer Science) from a recognized institution.
