Admission Process

Admission to IIIT Hyderabad is strictly merit-based and entrance-driven. For B.Tech (CSE and ECE), admission is through JEE Main scores via CSAB/JoSAA counselling. Additional channels include UGEE (IIITH's own undergraduate entrance exam for all dual-degree programmes), SPEC (Special Channel of Admission for students with exceptional talent), DASA (Direct Admissions for Students Abroad via SAT scores for foreign passport holders or students who studied abroad), Olympiad/KVPY-based admissions, and Class 12 board merit-based admissions for specific quotas. Lateral Entry (LEEE) is available for dual-degree programmes for students who have completed their 2nd year B.E./B.Tech from other institutes. For M.Tech, MS by Research, and Ph.D programmes, IIIT Hyderabad conducts the PGEE (Postgraduate Entrance Examination) typically in April each year. Applications open in February. Shortlisted candidates appear for a written test followed by a personal interview. GATE scores are also accepted as an alternative to PGEE for M.Tech admissions. Admission to the Ph.D programme can also be made through the Winter Research Admissions cycle (for Ph.D only). All admissions are strictly handled through the official IIIT Hyderabad web portals.
