Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow (popularly known as IET Lucknow or the 'Engineering College' in Lucknow) is the oldest and one of the most premier engineering institutions in the city of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Established on 19 November 1984 by the Government of Uttar Pradesh, IET began as the Faculty of Engineering and Technology under the University of Lucknow. It was subsequently reorganised as an independent, autonomous institute and has been a constituent college of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) — formerly known as Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU) and Gautam Buddh Technical University (GBTU) — since the year 2000. The institute is fully financed by the Government of Uttar Pradesh and is administered by the Executive Council of AKTU. Spread across a sprawling 100-acre residential campus on Sitapur Road, the institute was developed by Uttar Pradesh Rajkiya Nirman Nigam Ltd (UPRNN) on land provided by the state government. The campus encompasses modern academic blocks, administrative buildings, boys' and girls' hostels, approximately 100 residential quarters for teaching and non-teaching staff, and extensive sports facilities. IET Lucknow started with three B.Tech branches — Computer Science, Electrical, and Electronics — and quickly expanded to include Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, and other disciplines. The institute has a total student strength of over 2,800, including more than 2,100 undergraduates, 500 postgraduates, and 136 doctoral students. With a faculty of over 120 highly qualified professors and lecturers, the academic environment at IET is oriented towards both theoretical excellence and practical innovation. IET Lucknow houses an active incubation centre — the Navyug Navachar Foundation — which has supported over 50 startups and earned top rankings in state and national innovation indexes. Admission Process

Admission to B.Tech programmes at IET Lucknow is based on JEE Main scores, followed by UPTAC (Uttar Pradesh Technical Admission Counselling) conducted by AKTU. Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational subjects with a minimum of 45% marks (40% for SC/ST). A total of 7 counselling rounds are conducted, with 80% seats under the Home State quota and 20% under the All India quota. Lateral entry to B.Tech (2nd year) is available for diploma holders with 60% marks. For M.Tech, admission is through GATE scores (50% seats reserved for GATE qualifiers) or CUET PG scores for non-GATE candidates, followed by AKTU merit-based counselling. For MBA and MCA programmes, candidates must qualify CUET PG and participate in UPTAC counselling. For Ph.D., candidates must hold a valid GATE/NET score or clear the AKTU entrance examination, followed by an interview.
