About Indian Institute of Management Bodh Gaya

The Indian Institute of Management Bodh Gaya (IIM Bodh Gaya or IIM-BG) is an autonomous public business school located in Bodh Gaya, Gaya district, Bihar, India. Established in 2015, it is the 16th Indian Institute of Management in the country and holds the prestigious status of an 'Institute of National Importance', as accorded by the Government of India under the IIM Act, 2017. Promoted and nurtured by the Ministry of Education (formerly the Ministry of Human Resource Development), Government of India, the institution is registered as a Society under the Societies Registration Act, 1973. IIM Bodh Gaya was one of five new IIMs set up under the 2014 Union Budget of India. Originally slated to be named 'IIM Bihar', the institute was mentored by the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM-C), the oldest and one of the most prestigious IIMs in India. The first academic session was inaugurated on August 31, 2015 by then HRD Minister Smriti Irani. IIM Bodh Gaya followed the same pedagogy and rigorous curriculum as IIM Calcutta until 2019, building a strong academic foundation from the very beginning. The institute is located in the sacred city of Bodh Gaya, the land of enlightenment where Gautama Buddha attained enlightenment, and draws inspiration from this unique heritage. Its motto – 'सब्बे भद्राणि पस्सन्तु' (Sabbe Bhadrāni Passantu), meaning 'Let all be witnesses of all good happenings' – is derived from the Dhammavani Sangrah and is written in Pali. In January 2024, the 119-acre permanent campus at Uruvela, Prabandh Vihar, Bodh Gaya was inaugurated virtually by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The campus features state-of-the-art academic blocks, fully residential hostels, a world-class auditorium (Niranjana), sports facilities, an incubation centre (INSPIRE), and comprehensive student amenities. Academically, IIM Bodh Gaya has grown exponentially from a batch of just 30 students in 2015 to over 1,500 students across five fully residential programmes in 2024, representing students from more than 26 states of India. The institute has 60+ full-time faculty members holding doctorates from IITs, IIMs, and globally reputed universities, along with 150+ visiting experts and practitioners. It has academic and research partnerships with more than 20 international institutions, including NUS Singapore. Admission Process

Admissions to IIM Bodh Gaya are entrance-based and vary by programme: 1. MBA / MBA-DBM / MBA-HHM: Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree with a minimum 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PwD). A valid CAT score is mandatory. The General category cutoff is ~93–94 percentile overall and 73rd percentile sectionally. Shortlisted candidates appear for Personal Interview (PI) through the Common Admission Process (CAP). Final selection is based on CAT score, PI, academic profile, work experience, and diversity parameters. 2. IPM (Integrated Programme in Management): Candidates must have passed 10+2 with a minimum 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PwD) in both Class 10 and Class 12 from any recognized board. Admission is through JIPMAT (conducted by NTA). The overall JIPMAT cutoff is approximately 313–331. Candidates must also score ≥30th percentile in each section individually. 3. Ph.D. in Management: Candidates must have a Master's degree or equivalent. Admission is based on valid scores in CAT / GMAT / GRE / GATE / JRF (UGC/CSIR). Shortlisted candidates appear for a Personal Interview and Research Aptitude evaluation. Final selection is based on test scores (50%), academic qualifications, and relevant work experience. 4. Executive Ph.D.: For working professionals with a minimum of 5 years of post-qualification work experience. Admission is through an application and interview process. 5. EMBA (Online): For working professionals with a minimum of 3 years of work experience. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis through the institute's official admission portal.
