Indian Institute of Information Technology Bhagalpur (IIIT Bhagalpur), officially known as the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Bhagalpur, is a premier Institute of National Importance (INI) located in Sabour, Bhagalpur, Bihar, India. Established in 2017 by the Ministry of Education (erstwhile MHRD), Government of India, the institute operates under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model as a joint venture of the Government of India (50%), Government of Bihar (35%), and BELTRON (15%). It was declared an Institute of National Importance by an Act of Parliament in September 2020. Situated on the picturesque southern banks of the holy river Ganga across a sprawling 50-acre campus, IIIT Bhagalpur began its first academic session on August 1, 2017, initially operating from the Bhagalpur College of Engineering (BCE) campus under the mentorship of the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati). Phase 1 of the permanent, state-of-the-art campus was completed and dedicated to the nation by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on February 20, 2024, making IIIT Bhagalpur fully operational from its own campus.
