Government Polytechnic Lahaul & Spiti, initially established in Udaipur, Lahaul & Spiti district, is a premier technical institution under the Government of Himachal Pradesh. Founded in 2013, the institute was envisioned to bring high-quality technical education to the tribal and remote regions of the state. Currently, the polytechnic operates from its camp campus at the Jawaharlal Nehru Government Engineering College (JNGEC) in Sundernagar, Mandi. This strategic temporary location allows students to benefit from the robust infrastructure and academic ecosystem of one of the state's leading engineering colleges while the permanent infrastructure in Lahaul & Spiti is being developed. The institute focuses on providing a specialized 3-year Diploma in Civil Engineering, acknowledging the critical need for infrastructure development professionals in hilly terrains. With an annual intake of 30 students, the college ensures a personalized learning experience and a favorable student-to-teacher ratio. The curriculum is meticulously designed by the Himachal Pradesh Takniki Shiksha Board, blending theoretical knowledge with rigorous practical training. Students have access to state-of-the-art laboratories including Surveying, Soil & Highway Engineering, and Concrete Technology. Beyond academics, the institute encourages participation in NCC, sports, and cultural meets, fostering the holistic development of its students. Admission Process

Admissions are conducted through the Polytechnic Admission Test (PAT) organized by the HP Takniki Shiksha Board (HPTSB). Candidates must have passed 10th standard with a minimum of 35% marks. Centralized counseling is held based on PAT ranks. Lateral entry (LEET) to the second year is available for ITI holders or 10+2 (Vocational/Science) students.
