Government Post Graduate College, Dharamshala, often referred to as GC Dharamshala, is a premier institution of higher learning in the state of Himachal Pradesh. Established in 1912 by Sir Louis Dane, the then Lieutenant Governor of Punjab, the college boasts a century-long legacy of academic excellence. Initially founded as an intermediate college, it evolved into a degree-granting institution in 1947 and became the first college in the state to introduce postgraduate courses in 1977. Currently, it is recognized as a 'Centre of Excellence' by the Himachal Pradesh Government. The college offers a wide spectrum of programs across Arts, Science, and Commerce, alongside modern self-financing professional courses like B.Tech (CSE), MBA, MCA, BCA, and B.Sc. Admission Process

Admission to undergraduate courses (BA, B.Sc, B.Com) is primarily merit-based, calculated on 10+2 marks. For professional courses like B.Tech, admissions are through JEE Main or HPCET scores. MBA and MCA admissions require valid MAT, CMAT, or HPU-MAT scores followed by counseling. Application forms are usually released in June/July through the official college portal.

Cutoffs

Merit lists for BA/B.Sc usually close above 75% for General category in the first round. B.Tech cutoffs depend on HPCET/JEE rankings.
