Government Zirtiri Residential Science College (GZRSC), established in 1980, stands as the premier and only institution in the State of Mizoram dedicated exclusively to science education. Originally founded as a women's college, it was upgraded and converted into a co-educational science college in the year 2000 to address the growing need for specialized scientific training in the region. The college is located in the scenic heights of Aizawl, specifically in the Durtlang Leitan area, providing an environment conducive to academic rigor and intellectual growth. Over the decades, GZRSC has played a pivotal role in shaping the scientific landscape of North-East India, producing graduates who excel in research, academia, and government services. The institution is affiliated with Mizoram University and has achieved a prestigious 'A' Grade accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a CGPA of 3.09 in its third cycle (2022). The college offers a diverse range of undergraduate programs including B.Sc. in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, and unique offerings such as Home Science, Biochemistry, and Electronics, which are rarely found in other colleges within the state. It was also the first college in Mizoram to introduce the Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) program. With a dedicated faculty of over 50 members and a student body of approximately 900, the college maintains an excellent student-teacher ratio.
