About COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING, THALASSERY

The College of Engineering Thalassery (COET), established in 2000, is one of the premier technical institutions in Northern Kerala. Located at Eranholi in Thalassery, the college is established and managed by the Institute of Human Resources Development (IHRD), an educational agency under the Government of Kerala. COET was founded with the objective of providing high-quality engineering education to students in the Malabar region. Over the years, it has grown into a leading center for technical excellence, approved by the AICTE and affiliated with the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU). The institution gained significant prestige after being selected for the Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP) Phase II, which facilitated a massive upgrade of its academic and research infrastructure. The college offers a robust selection of undergraduate programs in six engineering disciplines, including the highly sought-after Computer Science, Information Technology, and Electronics & Communication streams. At the postgraduate level, it offers an MBA and M.Tech programs in Signal Processing and Manufacturing Systems Management. COET is particularly noted for its strong emphasis on hands-on technical training. The campus features state-of-the-art facilities like the NVIDIA-supported computing labs and a dedicated Fab Lab that encourages students to prototype their innovations. The faculty consists of highly qualified professionals, many of whom are permanent government appointees, ensuring academic stability and high-quality mentorship. Student life at COET is dynamic and industry-focused, with active student chapters of the IEEE, ISTE, and SAE. The annual technical and cultural festival, 'AGNEYA', is a major highlight that draws talent from across the state. The Training and Placement Cell is exceptionally proactive, maintaining a consistent record of placing students in global tech giants like TCS, Infosys, and UST Global. With its strategic location—being well-connected to both the Thalassery railway station and the Kannur International Airport—and its commitment to producing socially responsible and technically competent engineers, College of Engineering Thalassery continues to be a top choice for aspiring engineers in 2026.

Admission Process

Admission to the B.Tech program is primarily based on the rank obtained in the Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical (KEAM) entrance exam. 50% of the seats are filled through the CEE Kerala government allotment, while the remaining 50% are filled by the IHRD management based on merit and entrance scores. MBA admissions require a valid KMAT, CMAT, or CAT score followed by group discussion and interviews.

Cutoffs

KEAM ranks for Computer Science usually close around 10,000 - 15,000; Information Technology around 20,000 for general merit.
