About B.M.S. COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING

B.M.S. College of Engineering (BMSCE), officially known as Bhusanayana Mukundadas Sreenivasaiah College of Engineering, holds the distinction of being the first private sector engineering institution in India. Founded in 1946 by the visionary philanthropist Late Sri B.M. Sreenivasaiah and nurtured by his son Late Sri B.S. Narayan, BMSCE has served the nation's engineering education ecosystem for over 78 years. Located on Bull Temple Road, Basavanagudi, in the heart of Bengaluru – the Silicon Valley of India – the college stands as one of the most prestigious autonomous engineering institutions in Karnataka. BMSCE is affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, and has been an Autonomous Institution since 2008, allowing it to design its own curriculum to keep pace with industry and technological advancements. The college is approved by AICTE and recognised by UGC, accredited by NAAC with the highest 'A++' Grade, and holds NBA accreditation for several of its programmes. BMSCE is also ISO certified and is one of the few institutions from India recognised as an AICTE QIP Centre in Engineering and Technology. The college spans a campus of approximately 11 acres in the urban heart of Bengaluru, with a built-up area of over 98,545 sq. metres. It is home to over 5,000 actively enrolled students and 350+ research scholars pursuing Ph.D. and M.Sc. (Engineering by Research) degrees across 14 recognised Research Centres. The institution has produced over 40,000 alumni who hold leadership positions across industry, academia, and government worldwide. Academically, BMSCE offers a comprehensive portfolio of over 54 programmes spanning Undergraduate (B.E. in 18 specialisations), Postgraduate (M.Tech in 13 specialisations, MBA, and MCA), and Doctoral levels. The college has 116 smart classrooms equipped with ubiquitous ICT infrastructure, 137 state-of-the-art laboratories catering to UG, PG, and research students, a central library with over 1,50,000 volumes, 7,500+ e-journals, and 21,000+ e-books. BMSCE has a dedicated Training and Placement Cell established in 1995, which has facilitated over 18,500 cumulative placement offers since inception. In 2025, the highest salary package offered was ₹51.5 LPA, the average package stood at ₹11.4 LPA, and 383 companies participated in the campus placement drive. Top recruiters include Amazon, Adobe, Oracle, IBM, Accenture, Bosch, Motorola, Qualcomm, J.P. Morgan, Visa, and many others. Rankings reflect BMSCE's continued excellence: it is placed in the 151–200 band in NIRF Engineering Rankings 2025, ranked #25 by India Today 2025 and The Week 2025 in B.Tech, and ranked #4 in Bangalore by Collegedunia 2025. The college also partners with the Melton Foundation, USA – the only institution from India to be so adopted. BMSCE is a TEQIP Phase I and II institute (World Bank project), underscoring its international academic standards. Beyond academics, student life at BMSCE is vibrant and well-rounded. The campus hosts annual technical and cultural fests, active NCC and NSS units, an Entrepreneurship Development Cell, sports facilities covering over 15 sporting disciplines, a dedicated BMS Hospital, and separate hostel blocks for boys, girls, and international students.
