About APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU)

APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU), formerly known as Kerala Technological University, is the apex body for technical education in the state of Kerala. Established in 2014 by the Government of Kerala, its primary mission is to coordinate, supervise, and improve the quality of technical education across more than 170 affiliated engineering, architecture, and management colleges. Headquartered in Thiruvananthapuram within the prestigious CET campus, the university serves as a hub for innovation, research, and skill development for over 1.6 lakh students. KTU is renowned for its forward-thinking curriculum, which incorporates 'Activity Points' to encourage students to engage in social work, sports, and entrepreneurship alongside their academic pursuits. The university offers a comprehensive range of programs, including Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech), Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch), Master of Technology (M.Tech), MBA, and MCA. It was one of the first state universities in India to implement a fully digital examination and evaluation system, significantly reducing paper usage and streamlining administrative processes. KTU's curriculum is frequently updated to include emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, and Robotics, ensuring that graduates from its affiliated colleges remain competitive in the global job market. The university also maintains a strong partnership with the Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) to foster a culture of entrepreneurship, resulting in the birth of numerous student-led startups through its IEDC (Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre) network. Despite being a relatively young institution, KTU has secured a place in the NIRF 151-200 rank band for engineering, reflecting its rapid growth and commitment to excellence. The university acts as a bridge between industry and academia, facilitating internships, industrial visits, and placements with top-tier global companies. With its strict academic calendar and standardized evaluation procedures, KTU ensures that technical education in Kerala remains consistent and of high caliber. Its dedication to research is evident through its various funded projects and the establishment of centers of excellence in niche engineering domains. As it continues to evolve, APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University stands as a cornerstone of Kerala's vision to become a global knowledge economy.
