About S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research

S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR), officially known as the Shreyans Prasad Jain Institute of Management and Research, is one of India's most prestigious and internationally acclaimed business schools. Established in 1981, it is a constituent of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB), a distinguished educational and cultural trust founded in 1938. Located in the Andheri West suburb of Mumbai, the institute occupies a sprawling 45-acre green campus that has earned the LEED Platinum certification – the first business school campus in South Asia to achieve this distinction. SPJIMR holds the coveted Triple Crown Accreditation from AACSB International (USA), AMBA (UK), and EQUIS (EFMD, Europe), placing it among less than 1% of business schools worldwide with this distinction. It is also approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and affiliated with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). Its flagship PGDM programme carries NBA (National Board of Accreditation) recognition, further reinforcing academic quality. The institution's educational philosophy rests on two founding pillars – 'Influencing Practice' and 'Promoting Value-Based Growth.' SPJIMR champions what it calls 'wise innovation' – purposeful, responsible innovation that creates long-term societal and business value. This ethos is reflected in its unique academic programmes and experiential learning initiatives such as Abhyudaya (a mandatory pre-joining rural immersion), the Personal Growth Lab (PG Lab), Dhruva Leadership Workshop, Gita Shibir / Science of Spirituality, and the Development of Corporate Citizenship (DoCC) initiative. Ranked #20 in India under the Management category by NIRF 2025, #1 in India by IIRF 2025, and #35 globally in the Financial Times Masters in Management Rankings 2025, SPJIMR has consistently been recognised as one of India's top five business schools. Its globally recognised rankings, robust placement record (100% placements consistently), and unique student development model attract India's brightest management aspirants. The institute offers a wide portfolio of programmes spanning full-time residential (PGDM, PGDM-BM, PGPM, GMP), part-time and executive (PGEMP, PGPGM, PGPMBM), modular specialised (PGPFMB, PGPDM, LiFE), doctoral (FPM), and online/blended formats. SPJIMR's Delhi campus extends its executive education reach to the NCR region. SPJIMR's placement outcomes are consistently outstanding. For the Class of 2026, the institute achieved 100% placements for a record batch of 356 participants, with an average CTC of ₹33.75 LPA and a median CTC of ₹32.85 LPA. Top recruiters include BCG, McKinsey, Accenture Strategy, HUL, P&G, ITC, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, and Nestlé. The Consulting sector consistently dominates offers at around 37–40%. The institute fosters a vibrant campus life through annual events like OJAS (cultural and management festival) and SPrint (sports festival), while maintaining strong international collaborations with leading global business schools for student exchanges and faculty interactions. Visiting faculty from Stanford, Yale, and Kellogg regularly engage with students, providing global exposure without leaving India.

Admission Process

Admission to SPJIMR's flagship PGDM and PGDM (BM) programmes is highly competitive and follows a profile-plus-scores-based process. Step 1 – Application: Candidates apply online at spjimr.org. The application window typically opens in mid-September and closes in late November. Application fee: ₹2,000 for one programme; ₹3,000 for both PGDM and PGDM (BM). Step 2 – Shortlisting: Candidates are shortlisted based on a holistic evaluation of their CAT or GMAT (test-centre based only) score, academic record (10th, 12th, graduation marks), work experience, and overall profile. CAT cutoff is approximately 85th percentile for the General category. Step 3 – Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates appear for two rounds of Personal Interviews (PI) conducted across multiple cities in India (typically January–February). Step 4 – Final Admission: Merit list is prepared based on entrance exam score, academic record, PI performance, work experience, and extracurricular achievements. Accepted entrance exams: CAT, GMAT (for PGDM/PGDM-BM); GMAT, GRE, CAT (for GMP); GMAT, CAT (for PGPM and FPM); CAT, GMAT, GATE, UGC-NET, ATMA, GRE (for FPM). For PGEMP and executive programmes, admissions are on a rolling basis through the year. Minimum eligibility: Bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks from a recognised university.

Cutoffs

CAT 2024 – Estimated cutoff: 85th percentile (General Category) for PGDM/PGDM-BM profile-based calls; GMAT cutoff: 650+ (test-centre based scores only). XAT scores are not accepted. Final selection is heavily weighted on overall profile including academics, work experience, and interview performance, not cutoff percentile alone.
